Play is the work of Children. Some Piaget for you .

I love experimenting in my kitchen. Yesterday , I had baked a spaghetti squash  which I thought I would use today to make something different.  So off to the pantry and fridge I went for some inspiration. What emerged was a new recipe . Inspired by the idea of crab cakes, but much bolder in flavor, I decided to transform  my baked, strands of spaghetti squash to small cakes, infused with Stilton flavor.

Here's what I  came up with .

Spaghetti Squash Cakes filled with English Stilton

Spaghetti Squash Cakes with English Stilton Filling

Ingredients
1 lb of
1/4 lb of English Stilton Blue Cheese, diced
1/3 cup of Maple Syrup
Bread Crumbs   - Plain
1 Glove Garlic Minced
EVOO, S/P Hot Pepper Flakes

Preparation
After baking and separating the spaghetti squash into strands, toss it in skillet with some EVOO along with syrup. Cook it, just enough to blend the syrup into it and, eliminate any moisture that might have come out.  Turn off the heat. Then toss in your diced Stilton cheese. Let cool to the point where you can work with the mixture with your hands.

Using a cookie or pasta cutter form 1 inch thick discs. Bread only all sides.  Then flash fry each  of the discs in different very hot skillet. Best to use a high smoking point and flavor neutral oil such as grape seed or canola. A small amount of butter can help the browning process, but that is optional.

Play for children is natural,  So please don't tell this big baby not to play in his kitchen. As you can see, yummy things do emerge once in a while.

Salute !
