Slow Summer Sunday Snacking

On  this rainy, completely covered Sunday afternoon,  I asked myself, what would a non-traditional , lite sandwich contain? Uncured black forest ham with toasted Gruyere cheese ? Of course not, although, I do know it would hit the spot a few times over.  I did say non-traditional though. So here goes.

I decided on combining sweet and spicy for this one which I achieved by using thin slices of tree ripened bosc pear slices and chili peppers in olive oil imported from calabria. I mounted these on top of some excellent artisan multi-grain bread.

Next time you go sandwiching (related to the verb fishing), think differently. You are bound to come up with something that is tasty and healthy for you too.
